The meeting summary from our October meeting in Arlington, VA from October 9 – 10, 2018 at the Crystal City Marriott is available for download; you can also check out the final agenda, presentations, and participant list.We heard from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) on opportunities for funding research for agriculture and research innovations. Representatives from Danone, Nestle, and Mars discussed the genesis of and some future plans for the Sustainable Food Policy Alliance and how C-AGG can engage with the Alliance moving forward. Speakers from Maryland and Hawaii highlighted their state GHG mitigation and adaptation plans and activities in natural and working lands under the auspices of the US Climate Alliance (USCA); and C-AGG participants heard about the origins and goals of the USCA and shared ideas on how C-AGG participants and stakeholders can collaborate to support the work of the USCA Natural and Working Lands Initiative. Here at C-AGG we will be further developing these opportunities, and anticipate sharing more with our collaborative in the very near future. Representatives from the Nature Conservancy (TNC) presented a new report detailing US climate mitigation potential from various land-based pathways. Both Field to Market and the Soil Health Partnership highlighted their organizations’ progress and plans for broader engagement within their respective communities. And finally, we heard updates on carbon offset market protocols for the agricultural community from three organizations working in the field.
